I Can Have Cheezburger! is a free blog-style website featuring photo and video makings. It was launched in early 2021 by Eric Nakagawa from Hawaii, and her pal Kari Unebasami from Japan. The site was among the first Web sites of its type getting as many as 500,000 daily hits around its high point in May 2021. Since then it has become very popular.

 

The site is hosted on MySpace and also features a community forum and blogs on pretty much anything you can think of under the I Can Have Cheezburger! name. You can tell, though, that this site isn't exactly the run of the mill Chinese restaurant waiting place you would find on most social networking sites. The graphics are very different, for one.

 

The most striking feature of this site is its use of what is called "mulligan" or "trending." This simply means that whatever is interesting or popular at the moment is what is posted in your news feed. For example, a photo of a cute little kitten probably wouldn't be showing up on I Can Have Cheezburger's front page all day long unless people really like cats. But they sure do, because millions of people do. They call it "trending" for a reason, because it works.

I Love Cats is an Epic Fail

 

This works for a number of reasons. One is that a cat picture is more "sexy" and potentially more "liked" than, say, a dog picture. The I Can Have Cheezburger blog constantly features cats. The fact that they look cute in the photograph also helps draw in readers who might otherwise have given up on this particular site. It is almost like an advertisement, but in a sense, it isn't.

Some cats, dogs, and people started it to make people start looking again at their favorite blogs and websites. In other words, to get them back into it. Others use the Icanhascheezburger blog as an outlet for their mean-spirited humorous writings. But mostly, it has been used merely as a way for I Can Have Cheezburger (cc'd to I Can Have Cheezburger) to make money.

Some people start the icanhascheezburger blog as a means of ranting about cats or dogs or whatever, but then keep it updated with cat pictures all the time. And, because it is archived daily and they post their thoughts there, people start taking notice of what they are saying. Some are impressed with how witty they can be while still being serious. And others are flattered by the way cats respond to them. Some people even get into it as a means of supporting the local icanhascheezburger kittens, which is something to smile about, since kittens are pretty adorable in general.

The funny thing is that it takes a very long time for somebody who posts icanhascheezburger quotes to show up in lolcat replies. In other words, they don't show up until two or three months later. During that time, they had to have a long string of cat-related thoughts going through their head, which of course, made them think it would be funny to start posting these quotes. But then again, maybe cats are so much cuter that people started using icanhascheezburger as an alternative for saying I Love Cats.

 

If you are trying to figure out what to say in your daily log, consider trying to use I Love Cats as a way to start your day. It might not be the perfect daily log for everybody, but it sure as hell is one that will make you happy and lighten the mood on the internet.
